JAKARTA – The Vice chairman of The House of Regional Representatives of Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI), Mahyudin, addressing his availability to support the growth of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM), particularly to those producing and selling the local artwork. The concern was firmly conveyed when welcoming the visit of the representative of Indonesian Businesswomen Association (IWAPI), in the building of DPD RI, Jakarta, Wednesday (23/3).
The remark in the occasion, Mahyudin endorsed and promoted the batik fabric of Berau, East Kalimantan, known as the Batik of “Goresan Cinta” (Touch of Love). He admitted that he totally excited to see the ethnic patterned batik and was proud to wear one.
“I am really into the artwork of our nation. Especially batik, because I wear batik from various regions every day. In every work visit, respectively, I usually buy one from the local region,” he said.
Mahyudin also planned to order a bulk of Berau batik. This senator from East Kalimantan hoped, with many people buying the products of UMKM such as batik, UMKM will become more successful.
“I have made an arrangement to buy a bulk of Berau batik for myself and for my staff. Strongly, I hope that Berau batik will be more advanced, and UMKM will have its special place in Indonesia,” he continued.
According to him, the UMKM sector must be supported because it is one of the key factors in the post-pandemic national economic recovery. He also hoped the people of UMKM could pay attention to the quality of the product and its packaging to attract more people.
“The available products by UMKM must be creative and innovative, so that their products will be sought by the public,” he concluded.
