MAKASSAR – Makassar Mayor Danny Pomanto thanked the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Yudo Margono and Chief of Naval Staff (Kasal) Admiral TNI Muhammad Ali for being given the opportunity to host the prestigious international event Multilateral Naval Exercise Komodo (MNEK) this year.
“I think it is Makassar City that should be grateful to Mr. Commander of the TNI and Mr. Kasal for giving great honor and high trust to the city for being the host,” said Danny when talking with The Editor on Wednesday (14/6).
Danny’s words of gratitude were not unreasonable, because according to him, MNEK gave Makassar residents a lot of benefits and happiness.
“People really enjoy and are grateful,” he said.
Being praised by the TNI for being able to provide a neutral space for diplomacy also made Danny very proud.
“Because MNEK is not only a Navy event, not only a TNI event, but it concerns Indonesia’s pride as a non-aligned and a neutral nation,” he explained.
“And this is proven by the role of the Republic of Indonesia as a country that can bring all countries together,” he said.
Furthermore, he said that the success of MNEK could be realized due to the support of many parties.
“Thanks to the work of all SKPD, RT/RW, and all Forkopimda,” he said.
The first admiral of TNI Edi Haryanto also thanked Makassar Mayor Danny Pomanto for successfully holding the Multilateral Naval Exercise Komodo (MNEK) 2023.
“To the Mayor and the Makassar Community, I express my deepest gratitude for all the support that came in various ways,” said Edi, who also served as Commander of the MNEK 2023 Task Force when talking with The Editor on Monday (12/6).
According to Edi, Danny Pomanto was able to prepare security for the holding of the MNEK event as well as moral, even material support.
“Thank you very much for the support in various ways: hospitality, security, moral support, even material,” he said.
Edi emphatically said that the Makassar City Government had a very big contribution to the success of the MNEK which invited dozens of participants from all over the world.
According to him, this support is a form of awareness that MNEK is not only in the interests of the central government, but also regional interests.
