DENPASAR – The Mayor of Makassar, Moh. Ramdhan “Danny”, Pomanto is given the opportunity to attend the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) held in Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia.
He is even the one and only mayor in Indonesia who was invited to welcome delegates from various countries participating in WWF 2024 at the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Festival Park, Sunday (19/5/) night.
The forum initiated by the World Water Council (WWC) appointed Indonesia as the host and will be held in Denpasar, Bali, on 18–25 May 2024.
There are 15 elected representatives of the UCLG delegation to the 10th World Water Forum in Bali.
Four of them are from Indonesia, namely Deputy Governor of East Java for the 2019–2024 period Emil Elestianto Dardak, Mayor of Makassar Moh. Ramdhan “Danny” Pomanto, Secretary General of United Cities and Local Government Asia-Pacific (UCLG ASPAC) Bernadia Irawati Tjandradewi, and Executive Assistant of UCLG ASPAC Aldrin Chandra Rusdiyanto.
Indonesian representatives will join Ugur Ibrahim Altay Mayor and President of UCLG, Karatay Mayor Hasan Klca from Turkey, and Kumamoto Mayor Kazufumi Onishi from Japan, as well as several other representatives.
Makassar Mayor Danny Pomanto and others welcomed the 10th WWF participants from various countries who will attend the gala dinner at Garuda Wisnu Kencana.
“This is a pride for the Makassar City Government because not many can get this opportunity,” he said.
It is known that the Mayor is always involved in various international forums. In fact, he is often appointed as one of the speakers.
This proves that Danny Pomanto’s determination to make Makassar a World City has paid off. Makassar as the Centre of Indonesia is getting more attention from the world.
The 2024 World Water Forum Welcoming Gala Dinner will be attended by 2,500 people, consisting of 500 VVIPs and VIPs at GWK Cultural Park, and 2,000 other people at GWK Lotus Pond.
