JAKARTA – Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Abdullah Azwar Anas said the implementation of the Bangga Berwisata di Indonesia (BBWI) and Bangga Buatan Indonesia (BBI) programmes encourages the achievement of thematic bureaucratic reforms.
Both programmes have been part of achieving the priorities of increasing investment and the use of domestic products.
“Next year, the Indonesian economy is targeted to grow at around five percent. Tourism activities and the use of domestic products can be a catalyst for national economic turnover, so good collaboration between government agencies, state-owned enterprises, as well as associations and supporting industries is needed to achieve a better economy,” said Minister Anas when representing the Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs at the BBWI and BBI 2023 Award Night in Jakarta, Friday (15/12).
He explained that Indonesia has a large potential for domestic tourism trips from 276 million people.
If Indonesians take advantage of domestic tourism at least five times a year, it is projected that tourism revenue will reach Rp3,281 trillion or equivalent to 18.4 percent of nominal GDP.
In addition, Anas continued, the government has also issued various strategic policies to support the BBWI programme.
These policies include the transformation of three authority bodies, namely Borobudur, Lake Toba, and Labuan Bajo; optimisation of collective leave; empowerment of micro and small enterprises (MSEs) and domestic products; and synergy of tourism development through simplification of business processes.
This business process simplification itself has been carried out in event licensing services.
Before the simplification, event organizers had to undergo six stages of process, now there are only four stages and it only takes 30 days through an online system from the 180 days.
Regarding the optimization of collective leave, the government through the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Manpower, and Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform has issued a joint decision and set 27 holidays in 2024.
These holidays consist of 17 public holidays and 10 days of collective leave.
“This momentum is important to utilize in encouraging economic recovery through tourism activities in the country. The holiday can also encourage the optimisation of public tourism, which is of course monitored and supervised by the fulfillment and achievement of targets and targets,” continued the former head of LKPP.
On behalf of the Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs, Minister Anas appreciated the government agencies, associations, and supporting industries that have committed to the success of the BBWI programme.
This year’s achievement is quite good, around 688 million trips or an increase of 13 percent from 2022.
This good collaboration needs to be continued to achieve the target of 1.25-1.5 billion domestic tourist trips by 2025.
Appreciation is also expressed to government agencies, Top Brands, and supporting SOEs for the implementation of Gernas BBI which is the spearhead of the progress of the domestic industry sourced from local MSMEs/IKM/Artisan.
Going forward, the focus will be on improving product quality and innovation so that the local market is dominated by domestic products, especially MSME/IKM/Artisan products.
Minister Anas also reminded that spending on domestic products is currently one of the indicators for assessing the bureaucratic reform of government agencies.
It is hoped that local governments can be more committed to being proud of Indonesia, both proud of products that have been made in Indonesia and also proud to travel in Indonesia.
“I appreciate the good work of government agencies in implementing the BBWI and BBI programmes, which have a significant economic multiplication effect. The results will contribute to the three thematic bureaucratic reform targets for impact performance, namely poverty alleviation, increased investment, and domestic product spending. We also encourage the implementation of this programme to be done digitally through EBGS,” he concluded.
The awarding night with the theme Bingkai Ulang Indonesiamu recognised BBWI in six categories and BBI in four categories.
Minister Anas also participated in presenting the BBWI Award in the category of the Best Province of BBWI National Level, which was achieved by Southeast Sulawesi Province.
