JAKARTA – Statistics Indonesia (BPS) on Monday (16/10) stated that Indonesia’s exports and imports in September 2023 experienced a decline, both compared to the previous month (m-to-m) and the previous year (y-to-y).
Indonesia’s export value in September 2023 was recorded at $20.76 billion, a decrease of 5.63 percent from the export value in August 2023 which was almost $22 billion.
Meanwhile, when compared with the export value in September 2022 which reached $24.76 billion, the export value in September 2023 decreased by 16.17 percent.
Cumulatively, the value of Indonesia’s exports for the January–September 2023 period also decreased, namely by 12.34 percent from the same period in 2022.
Indonesia’s export value from January to September 2023 was stated to reach $192.2 billion, while Indonesia’s export value from January to September 2022 was recorded at $219.3 billion.
Head of BPS Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti explained that the decline in exports in September 2023 compared to August 2023 was caused by a decline in non-oil and gas exports by 6.41 percent.
At the same time, oil and gas exports increased by 6.54 percent with crude oil exports increasing by 185.14 percent as the driving force.
Regarding the value of imports, Indonesia in September 2023 imported 8.15 percent less compared to August 2023 and 12.45 percent less than September 2022.
Indonesia’s import value in September 2023 only reached $17.34 billion. Meanwhile, the import value in August 2023 reached $18.88 billion and $19.81 billion in September 2022.
Cumulatively, the value of Indonesia’s imports for the January–September 2023 period also decreased, namely by 8.34 percent from the same period in 2022.
The value of Indonesia’s imports from January to September 2023 reached $164.52 billion, while the value of Indonesia’s exports from January to September 2022 was recorded at $179.47 billion.
