For a Middle Eastern Culinary Experience, Hundreds of Visitors Queue at Arabian Street Food Banyuwangi

THE EDITOR – The festive atmosphere and distinctive aroma of spices filled the Jalan Bangka area, Kampung Arab Lateng, with the presence of Arabian Street Food (Arasfo), Saturday (9/11/2024). The Arasfo culinary bazaar again greeted culinary lovers with a variety of appetizing Middle Eastern specialities.

The opening of Arasfo was enthusiastically welcomed by the residents. The crowds have been flocking to the area since early afternoon. Various tents and food stalls were lined up neatly, offering a variety of delicious dishes such as kebabs, mandhi rice, samosas, shawarma, to sweet treats such as baklava and kunafa.

Arasfo is not only a culinary event, but also offers various entertainment such as traditional Arabic music and dance. The event also provides an attractive selfie area for visitors to take pictures.

“I am a fan of Middle Eastern food. The flavors are authentic and the prices are affordable. Moreover, the atmosphere is lively and festive, perfect for a culinary tour with family,” said Retno Namira, one of the visitors at Arasfo.

The same thing was also felt by one of the kebab sellers, Fatim Bawazier. According to her, the return of Arasfo is a breath of fresh air for culinary MSMEs in Kampung Arab.

“We are always happy when many tourists buy our food. Hopefully, it will be a promotional channel for visitors who want to enjoy the typical cuisine in Kampung Arab,” said Fatim.

Apart from serving a variety of culinary delights, Arasfo is also enlivened with Middle Eastern music performances that add to the lively atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy their meal while being entertained by Arabic music.

Acting Regent of Banyuwangi Sugirah revealed that the return of Arasfo further complements the various culinary specialities of Banyuwangi.

“We have Arabian food here, Seafood Mandar in the east. There are also various specialities of Using, Madura, Mataraman, and others. In addition to pampering the visitors, Arasfo is proof of the culinary diversity in Banyuwangi while introducing Middle Eastern cuisine to the wider community,” she said.
