THE EDITOR – The 2024 Nusa Penida Festival was enlivened with a fashion show of Balinese traditional clothing participated by foreign tourists.
The event, which took place on Thursday (10/10/2024) evening, presented an interesting show as the participants wore traditional Balinese clothing.
Although it was their first time wearing traditional clothing, the tourists showed impressive skills. They walked like professional models on stage.
The atmosphere became more festive with cheers and laughter from the audience who watched the participants’ performances.
In addition to the fashion show, the festival also featured the inauguration of the Nusa Penida diving group and the “Sesolahan Pesisir” fragmentary performance.
With these various activities, the Nusa Penida Festival is increasingly in the spotlight, inviting the attention of many visitors and celebrating the richness of Balinese culture.
Accompanied by Head of Tourism Ni Made Suliastiawati and Head of Culture Ketut Suadnyana, Acting Regent of Klungkung I Nyoman Jendrika said that he hoped the festival would be a new spirit for the advancement of tourism and the economy in Klungkung Regency, especially Nusa Penida.
The festival is also expected to increase tourist visits and length of stay, as well as to increase Klungkung’s local revenue (PAD).
Negul Bulung Attraction on the Third Day
The third day of the 2024 Nusa Penida Festival was enlivened by the attraction of negul bulung or tying the seaweed. Participated by mothers representing each hamlet in Lembongan Village, the event was held on the Ceningan stage, Saturday (12/10).
“There is also a gebug bantal competition on the beach between Lembongan Island and Ceningan Island,” said Jendrika.
In addition to local residents, he continued, the interesting part of this competition was also attended by foreign tourists who were on holiday.
Another attraction is the megolok sampan attraction or pushing a canoe with a piece of wood for approximately 200 meters.
Not only the local community, this activity also attracts the attention of foreign tourists to watch.
“This is a traditional race that we need to preserve. This needs to be developed to attract tourists,” said Acting Klungkung Regent, I Nyoman Jendrika accompanied by Klungkung Secretary Anak Agung Gede Lesmana after officially opening the event.
