JAKARTA – Statistics Indonesia revealed that in November 2023, there was year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation of 2.86 percent, with a consumer price index of 116.08.
In a press conference held today, Friday (1/12), Deputy for Balance Sheets and Statistical Analysis of Statistics Indonesia Moh. Edy Mahmud said that the highest inflation occurred in Tanjung Pandan (5.89 percent) while the lowest occurred in Jayapura (1.82 percent).
“In November 2023, there was inflation of 0.38 percent monthly (m-to-m), or an increase in the consumer price index from 115.64 in October 2023 to 116.08 in November 2023,” he said.
“Meanwhile, year on year (y-on-y) inflation reached 2.86 percent and 2.19 percent for calendar year to date (y-to-d),” he added.
In a press release received by The Editor, it was stated that y-on-y inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by the increase in all expenditure group indices, starting from the food, beverage and tobacco group (6.71 percent) to the information and communication, and financial services group (0.07 percent).
In the food, beverage and tobacco group, the sub-group that experienced the highest y-on-y inflation was the cigarette and tobacco sub-group, namely 8.77 percent, while the lowest was the alcoholic beverage sub-group, namely 1.83 percent.
Meanwhile, of the four sub-groups included in the information, communication, and financial services group, only one sub-group experienced y-on-y inflation.
This sub-group is the information and communication services sub-group, which experienced inflation of 0.44 percent.
The dominant commodities that contribute to y-on-y inflation in November 2023 include rice, purebred chicken, garlic, and red chilies.
Meanwhile, the dominant commodities that contribute to m-to-m inflation in November 2023 include rice, red chilies, cayenne peppers, and green chilies.
By province, the highest annual inflation in Sumatra occurs in Tanjung Pandan, in Kalimantan it occurs in Kotabaru, in Java it occurs in Sumenep, in Bali-Nusa Tenggara it occurs in Singaraja, in Sulawesi it occurs in Luwuk City, and in Maluku-Papua it occurs in Merauke.
