JAKARTA – The Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM) of the Ministry of Home Affairs together with the Indonesian International Fashion Art Community (Kadifa) and MSMEs will hold the Nusantara Weaving and Songket Festival on September 7, 2023.
This was stated by the Head of Kadifa Anna Mariana on Wednesday (9/8) during the “Gathering and Press Conference of the Nusantara Songket Weaving Festival and UMKM Expo” at BPSDM, Ministry of Home Affairs, South Jakarta.
“With the support of the Ministry of Home Affairs and other ministries, we hope that MSMEs can rise again,” said Anna in her speech.
Anna said her party would open opportunities for MSMEs from all provinces in Indonesia to participate.
She also promised to introduce MSMEs participating in this event widely and on a large scale, especially to the international market.
Therefore, she is optimistic that this event will be successful even though MSME entrepreneurs have been slumped by the pandemic of Covid-19.
“If we don’t introduce them widely, on a large scale, through an event like this, then they themselves won’t know each other, let alone talk about the international market,” explained Anna.
It is planned that through this event, Indonesian President Joko Widodo and First Lady Iriana Widodo will serve as protectors for woven and songket craftsmen from all over Indonesia.
Anna said her party would give the title of Mr and Mrs Weaving and Songket to President Jokowi and First Lady Iriana Widodo.
This title was given by craftsmen from all over Indonesia and is an appreciation for the government which has provided protection and legal steps for the cultural heritage of Indonesia’s traditional weaving and songket ancestors.
