Visiting IAIN Madura, Minister Anas: Develop Islamic Education System for Nation’s Progress

PAMEKASAN – Religion-based universities are considered to play an important role in the nation’s progress. Madura State Islamic Institute (IAIN), for example, must adopt a learning system that is relevant to global progress without losing religious values and dogma.

The message was conveyed by Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) Abdullah Azwar Anas when greeting IAIN Madura students in Pamekasan, Saturday (27/7).

One of IAIN Madura’s challenges is developing the competence of lecturers and students.

“Secondly, Islamic universities must be able to develop a curriculum that is relevant and can answer the needs in the global world without sacrificing Islamic values,” said Minister Anas.

The learning process at IAIN Madura must ensure that students have a significant contribution to society, even internationally.

Minister Anas reminded that religious higher education is organized to study and develop religious science clusters and various science clusters.

“The third challenge is to establish collaboration and cooperation between Islamic universities in various sectors, both domestically and abroad,” he said.

From the institutional side, the process of proposing the change of IAIN Madura to UIN Madura is a strategic step.

The change in status not only affects the internal institution, but also has broad implications for the world of education.

To IAIN Madura students, Minister Anas advised that the future is influenced by the ability to adapt to technological change. Therefore, the younger generation must utilize and develop skills according to the needs of the times.

“The skills that young people must have are creative, mastering technology, communicative, and good leadership,” he concluded.
