THE EDITOR – As the end of the year approaches, Banyuwangi Regency Government continues to ensure that road infrastructure development in the region is completed. Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani even directly inspects a number of roads that had been completed, one of which is in the Muncar Sub-district area.
On Sunday (1/12/2024), the inspections were carried out in Ikan Kerapu Street, Palurejo Hamlet, Sumbersewu Village; in a road to SMPN Muncar; Kedungringin Street, Sumberberas Hamlet, Tembokrejo Village; and Sumberberas Street.
“We continue to ensure that road construction in 2024 runs smoothly and can be completed before the end of the year. Alhamdulillah, for the Muncar Sub-district area, there are 100 road points that have been completed and can be utilised by the community,” said Regent Ipuk when inspecting the Kedungringin-Sumberberas Road.
The Muncar Sub-district area, she added, is one of the areas in Banyuwangi where road construction is carried out quite massively. Throughout 2021–2024, 344 roads were built and repaired in the area with a total length of 90.386 kilometers.
The road construction, according to Ipuk, was carried out to facilitate community activities, both for economic, educational, and other purposes. In addition, road construction in the Muncar area is also to support the smooth running of the fishing industry in the area.
“Hopefully, this road construction can be utilised as well as possible. I hope we can take care of it well so that the road condition is durable and not quickly damaged,” she said.

Regent Ipuk added that road infrastructure development will remain one of Banyuwangi’s priority development programmes in the future. Among them are roads that have been included in the list of proposals for the 2025 regional development plan.
“Not all can be built at once. Everything is done gradually according to the availability of the budget which must also be allocated for education, health, teacher salaries, health worker salaries, agriculture, MSMEs, tourism, public services, and so on,” she said.
Meanwhile, Acting Secretary of the Banyuwangi Public Works and Human Settlements Office, Ebta Andharisandi, explained that for the 2024 budget, there are 100 roads in the Muncar Sub-district area that have been built or repaired.
“The details are 80 points of road sections built with the 2024 APBD budget and an additional 20 points of road sections which are additional proposals, and built with the 2024 revised APBD budget,” said Ebta.
“The construction is carried out using the hotmix method and paving,” he added.
Ebta also said that all roads in other areas of Banyuwangi Regency are currently being completed. “The total roads built for 2024 are 821,48 kilometers,” he concluded.
