Located in Ayutthaya Province, Wat Yai Chai Mongkol Temple can be reached after a two-hour road trip from Bangkok.

This temple is one of the largest and most frequently used for worship by the Thai people.

In its entrance, a huge Buddha statue stands in gold color welcoming the visitors.

The temple was built by the first king of Ayudhya City, U Thuong, and reserved for religious celebrations and important royal ceremonies.

It is not surprising that this temple is visited by many local people and monks.

Those who want to enter the temple must not forget to take off their shoes and keep the cell phone away since pilgrims and tourists are not allowed to take photos while inside the temple.

This temple was also built specifically to honor the solidarity of the monks in this city.

Since it is very sacred, it is not surprising that many statues are covered with orange cloth. This cloth is usually put on alternately by pilgrims who have special wishes when praying.

Apart from placing cloth, Buddhists in Thailand also use wells which are believed to bring good luck to those who succeed in putting their coins in the bucket.

If you want to visit this temple, make sure to bring a head protector and mineral water.

This is because the humidity in Thailand is much higher than in Indonesia. So the air feels more humid and very hot.

Wat Phra Mahathat Temple is very popular as it has a Buddha head statue wrapped around a tree trunk.

Located in Ayutthaya City, it also got its popularity when Lonely Planet Magazine released a photo of its statue in the 1990s.

The temple used to have dozens of Buddha statues in this place. Unfortunately, when Myanmar took control of Ayutthaya, these statues were destroyed.

The history of the statue being wrapped around a tree trunk also cannot be separated from the war period in Thailand.

One of the statues fell onto a very small tree. Decades later, the tree grew big and its branches began to wrap around the entire statue until it looked like it does today.

Udon Thani Province is on the border between Thailand and Laos, or about a 1 hour flight from the city of Bangkok.

This region is widely known as a very unique region because its people are friendly and rich in culture.

Having an archaeological site of pottery with unique swirl marks that is more than 5,000 years old, Udon Thani made it to the list of the world’s cultural heritage sites of UNESCO.

This world cultural heritage is called Ban Chiang, and it is guarded by the local community.

Tourists can enjoy the experience of making their own pottery or dyeing fabric with natural indigo dye.

The best time to visit this place is in April and June during the rainy season where the rocket festival (Bun Bang Fai) is held.

You can also come in January, when the red lotus festival is held. Thai people celebrate the blooming of the lotus every year, so it is certain that the lakes around Udon Thani will be beautiful at that time.
