JAKARTA – To improve leadership and entrepreneurship skills, the Directorate General of Village Government Development (Ditjen Bina Pemdes) of the Ministry of Home Affairs will train village heads and village officials in 33,000 locations throughout Indonesia.

“We are involving the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), Indonesian National Police (POLRI), and Friends of Kesbangpol,” said the Director General (Dirjen) of Bina Pemdes Eko Prasetyanto Purnomo Putro after welcoming representatives from the TNI, Polri, Kesbangpol, BRI, BPD, BSI, and the Ministry of Cooperatives and MSME, at the Bina Pemdes Building, Jakarta, Thursday).

Eko hopes that this training can form village heads who are service oriented in the future.

In addition, it is also hoped to create a leader in the village who is independent and capable of entrepreneurship.

One of Eko’s future targets through this training is to grow Village Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) in all villages in Indonesia.

This is because of the currently registered 14,000 BUMDes, only 10 percent are active.

“In the village, BUMDes must grow from the initiative of the leader. So, the growth of the BUMDes will increase the village economy and income,” he said.

“The point is how to make BUMDes available in every village. Because the existing BUMDes are not optimal in increasing the village’s original income in providing welfare for the village community,” he concluded.
