JAKARTA – Homes for ministers and flats for civil servants (ASN) in the area of Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN) in East Kalimantan will be as sophisticated and modern as those in South Korea.
One amenity prepared in the area is tap water that can be drunk directly.
“We are able to build houses that are as sophisticated as those in Korea because the tap water in IKN can be drunk directly,” said Ministerial Expert Staff for Technology, Industry and Environment of the Ministry of PUPR Endra S. Atmawidjaja to The Editor at the PUPR Ministry Building, Jakarta.
The tap water that will flow into the houses, he explained, comes from a dam not far from the ministers’ residences.
In addition to ready-to-drink tap water, green, energy-friendly, water-saving, and compact concepts are also applied to the house.
In other words, he continued, the house will be a model for all national property projects in Indonesia.
It is said that the price per unit of ministerial houses in IKN was around Rp14 billion.
Even so, Endra himself has not confirmed the exact price for each unit of these houses.
It’s just that the government invested quite a lot when building the house to make it more environmentally friendly.
“The investment is big but the operation management is cheap. Like this building, you won’t feel cold or hot here,” he said.
Not only the minister’s house, Endra continued, flats for ASNs who will live in the IKN area will also receive similar facilities.

Even the electricity that supports the area’s system is also built using renewable energy such as solar panels which are quite expensive.
“Including everything in IKN, the water will be portable. We are still building the flat. The electricity comes from renewable energy using solar panels, so it will be more expensive. The unit price of the house is expensive, but the maintenance is not,” he said.
As is known, the construction of ministerial official houses at IKN Nusantara will cost up to Rp14 billion per unit.
This information was revealed when the Chairman of Commission V of the DPR Lasarus questioned the amount of the budget for the construction of ministerial official houses at IKN to the Ministry of PUPR.
In the question, Lasarus said the budget prepared for the construction of ministerial official houses at IKN reached Rp519.06 billion.
Java is already too crowded
Endra said that one of the reasons why the capital is being moved to Kalimantan is because Jakarta is considered too crowded with human population.
One example is the crowding of river and lake banks.
“We do not want to fill Java with people. There must be a balance between human and nature,” he said.
The current condition of Jakarta, according to Endra, will not make people who live in urban areas feel comfortable.
In fact, in many developed countries, people feel comfortable living in cities for decades.
Kondisi Jakarta saat ini, menurut Endra, tidak akan membuat manusia yang tinggal di kawasan perkotaan merasa nyaman.
“We have to take care of that, the comfort of people who live in Jakarta. That’s why we made a new city in Kalimantan so that it is not Java-centric, let alone Jakarta-centric,” he concluded.
