JAKARTA – The enactment of Law No. 6 of 2014 concerning Villages provides ample space for villages to improve services, development, and the welfare of their people.

Therefore, the effort to strengthening the capacity of village government officials needs to be increased–and this is what’s on the central government’s agenda.

In the context of implementing the agenda, the Directorate General of Village Government Development (Ditjen Bina Pemdes) of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) will conduct capacity building training in 33,458 villages throughout Indonesia.

The number is equivalent to 45% of the total number of villages of 75,265, or nearly 50% of the target villages which become the locations of the execution of the P3PD.

This program involves several ministries or agencies and is funded by the World Bank.

The Secretary of Ditjen Pemdes of Kemendagri Paudah, representing the Director General of Bina Pemdes Eko Prasetyanto Purnomo Putro, explained, as much as four officials from each village will participate in the trainings–the total will reach 133.832 participants.

“Considering the great need for village apparatus training, Ditjen Bina Pemdes will prepare competent and capable trainers through Training for Trainers (ToT) of Village Officials,” she said when opening the Village Officials Training of Trainer (TOT) event at the Swiss Hotel Bell, Jakarta.

Strengthening the capacity of the village officials in a sustainable manner, she added, is an urgent need.

This is confirmed by the wide span of control over the area, with the number of villages reaching 75,256 villages.

Therefore, the implementation of capacity building assistance for village officials needs to be carried out in stages.

These trainings include village officials training (basic); training in determining, affirming, and validating village borders; training/guidance for using the village financial and asset management applications; training to strengthen the Village Consultative Council (BPD); training to strengthen the PKK; training to strengthen the village cooperation; training to strengthen village community institutions/village customary institutions; and training to strengthen the Posyandu.

“To prepare trainers who are competent to train in the trainings that I have mentioned, Bina Pemdes through P3PD will organize Training of Trainers (ToT) activities, and one of them is ToT for village officials training (basic) with a target number of prospective trainers of 1,120 people,” she said.

The ToT for village officials training activities will be held in 33 provinces. Therefore, preparation for the implementation of training is needed so it is well coordinated and can run optimally.

“In this case, it is run with the help of Provincial PMD Service and also P3PD Regional Management Consultants (RMC) Experts in 33 Provinces,” she concluded. (NEWS ADVERTORIAL)
