JAKARTA – As much as 193 million Indonesians are expected to celebrate the Eid al-Fitr (lebaran) homecoming season this year.
It was stated by Ministry of Transportation spokesperson Adita Irawati in a press conference held at the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) office in Jakarta, Monday (25/3) afternoon.
“193 million people (Indonesians) will be going to their hometowns,” Adita said in a question and answer session with reporters.
On that occasion, it was also mentioned that the peak of the homecoming flow will occur on D-7 ahead of Lebaran until D+3.
Adita hopes that travelers will regularly check announcements from Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) about the weather situation.
This is because the rainy season that is happening lately can trigger fallen trees on arterial roads or public roads and flooding.
“Pay attention to the BMKG when going back to your hometown so that the journey is not hampered,” he said.
Motorbike Travelers Must Be Physically Healthy
Especially for travelers with motorbikes or two-wheeled vehicles, Adita asked them to pay attention to the condition of the vehicle that will be used for homecoming.
It’s because although the government provides many locations for rest areas, each traveler is given only a maximum of 30 minutes to rest.
Likewise with physical health, she hopes that travelers will be able to maintain their stamina so that they will always be safe on the way.
Electric Car Users Need to Be Alert
The government has set up 33 Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) along the TransJawa rest area.
However, these SPKLUs are only available in certain large rest areas. Therefore, travelers are expected to know the list of SPKLUs so that they can keep going comfortably.
SPKLU locations announced by the Ministry of Transportation include KM 13 A on the Jakarta – Merak route.
For the Jakarta-Bogor-Ciawi toll road, two SPKLU points are provided at KM 10A rest area towards Bogor and KM 21B rest area towards Jakarta.
Meanwhile, SPKLUs on the toll road from Jakarta to Probolinggo, East Java, are available at KM 6B, KM 208B, KM 389B, KM 456B, KM 519B, KM 616B, KM 207A, KM 379A, KM 519A, KM 626A, and KM 695A.
