MEDAN – Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) Abdullah Azwar Anas encourages North Sumatra Province to implement impactful bureaucratic reforms. This is in accordance with the president’s direction that it will have a good impact on the running public services.
In order to have an impact, the bureaucracy must be agile and can be implemented with integrated digitalisation and simplification of business processes.
“Bureaucracy is the engine of development. Its acceleration must be maintained so that it runs fast in achieving development targets,” said Minister Anas in Sapa ASN North Sumatra in Medan, North Sumatra, Wednesday (17/7).
He stated that development targets in North Sumatra can be quickly achieved if integration, digitalisation, and interoperability of business processes and services are carried out.
By cutting the mounting bureaucracy, it can produce real impact for the wider community, especially in North Sumatra.
“An impactful bureaucracy can reduce poverty, increase investment, and handle inflation well with efficient digitalisation,” he continued.
In achieving bureaucratic reform, Minister Anas encouraged government officials in North Sumatra to improve their performance accountability.
Based on the evaluation results in 2023, North Sumatra received a BB predicate for the Bureaucratic Reform Index score and a B predicate for the Government Agency Performance Accountability System score.
“It takes hard work from all levels of government within North Sumatra to make this performance accountability more impactful. Hopefully in the future this can continue to be improved,” said Minister Anas in front of North Sumatra ASN who attended the North Sumatra Governor’s Office and those who participated online.
Integrated public services will also have a positive impact, one of which is through the Public Service Mall (MPP).
Until mid-2024, North Sumatra only has five MPPs. They are located in Tebing Tinggi City, Asahan Regency, Humbang Hasundutan Regency, Medan City, and North Labuhan Batu Regency.
The minister conveyed his hope to see more MPPs in other regions in North Sumatra, not just MPP buildings, but also Digital MPPs.
On the same occasion, Minister Anas also mentioned three strategies for the development of human resources of the apparatus.
First, a harmonious team composition between senior and junior ASNs, especially in bringing together innovations and ideas that are aligned with experience in an effort to accelerate bureaucratic transformation.
Second, the role of leaders who lead with a clear vision, motivate, and optimize the potential of future leaders.
Then, the strategic use of data and analysis in making policies and programmes.
“Improving the quality of bureaucracy is a necessity for improving services for the wider community. Hopefully, today’s meeting with North Sumatra ASN can be a way to increase commitment and dedication and have an impact on the government going forward,” he concluded.
Acting North Sumatra Governor Agus Fatoni said that government agencies within North Sumatra have been encouraged to carry out various initiatives in the framework of bureaucratic reform.
It is hoped that the bureaucracy run in the province can have an impact on economic development and also national development targets.
“Government agencies in North Sumatra, both at the city, regency and provincial levels must carry out bureaucratic reform seriously, work fast and smart, and with innovation to realize an impactful bureaucracy,” he said.
