Penajam Paser Utara – During a working visit to the Nusantara State Capital (IKN) in East Kalimantan, Minister of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono reviewed the progress of the construction of toll road access to the IKN Nusantara Government Centre Core Area (KIPP).

The toll road construction progress has reached 81% and is expected to be used functionally before the 17 August 2024 ceremony at IKN Nusantara.

The IKN Toll Road will be connected to the Balikpapan-Samarinda (Balsam) Toll Road precisely at KM 8 – Kariangau, so there is no need to pass through the Balsam Toll Road until KM 33, then head to Sepaku and enter the IKN Nusantara which takes approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.

“The 27 kilometers IKN Toll Road is stretched from Kariangau to Balang Island Bridge. This is what we will use on 17 August 2024 with as many as 3 lanes,” said Basuki.

The construction of the toll road is currently ongoing, including overpass work, beautification, and toll road fittings.

Basuki said that overall, there are no obstacles in the construction of the IKN Access Toll Road. It only needs a little attention to the construction of the Wain River bridge because of the soil structure.

“Physically there are no obstacles to the construction of the IKN Toll Road. But there are a few at this location (Wain River Bridge), but we strive to complete all of August 2024,” he said.

The construction of the IKN Toll Road which is currently running consists of three sections, namely Section 3A Karangjoang-KKT Kariangau along 13.4 kilometers with 77% progress, Section 3B KKT Kariangau-Simpang Tempadung along 7.3 kilometers with 80% progress, and Section 5A Simpang Tempadung-Jembatan Pulau Balang along 6.7 kilometers with 82% progress.

In addition to the toll road, Basuki also inspected the construction of the duplication of the short-span Pulau Balang Bridge and the beautification of the bridge.

The duplication of the short-span Pulau Balang bridge is important to complement the old short-span Pulau Balang Bridge as well as connect the long-span Pulau Balang Bridge that has already been completed.

The short-span duplication bridge of Pulau Balang is about 500 meters from the long-span bridge of Pulau Balang, which was completed in 2021. The bridge was built in January 2024 alongside the 512-meter-long old bridge.

The Balang Island short-span duplication bridge has 4 pillars in the sea zone and 4 pillars in the land zone. The bridge construction is carried out by PT Adhi Karya-Duta-Jakon (KSO) with a state budget of Rp471 billion. Currently, the physical progress of the work has reached 74% with an implementation period of 570 calendar days.

Accompanying Minister Basuki were Director General of Highways of the Ministry of PUPR Hedy Rahadian, Director General of Human Settlements of the Ministry of PUPR Diana Kusumastuti, Director General of Housing Iwan Suprijanto, and Ministerial Expert Staff for Technology, Industry and Environment Endra S. Atmawidjaja, Chairman of the IKN Infrastructure Development Implementation Task Force Danis H Sumadilaga.
