MAKASSAR – The 4th ASEAN Architect Congress held by the Indonesian Institute of Architects at the Gammara Hotel, Makassar City, was officially opened on Thursday (27/7).
The Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan was also present at the opening ceremony of the regional forum.
According to him, this meeting is a momentum to improve the quality of Indonesian architectural human resources.
“Hopefully, this ASEAN Architect Congress will become a forum for communication, because the key word is cooperation. We have a lot of architectural human resources,” said the minister.
With these qualities, he believes that Indonesian architects will be able to compete with architects around the world. And not only in ASEAN countries, but also in other countries outside ASEAN.
“Our architects can work in ASEAN countries, even the world, so the market is wide. But it depends on the ability of our architects, it’s a matter of skills,” he said.
He further explained, the Indonesian government through the Ministry of Trade has entered into cooperation agreements in the field of trade in services with other countries.
One of them is through the ASEAN Framework Agreement on Services (AFAS), which is a form of cooperation to achieve ASEAN economic integration in the services sector.
“We, at the Ministry of Trade, have completed service trade agreements both in ASEAN and other countries. We already have AFAS, so there are no more obstacles,” he concluded.
