It was conveyed by the Mayor of Makassar Danny Pomanto in his welcoming speech as the host of the event.

According to him, all invited guests can discuss a lot of things in this forum, such as the legality and quality of architectural works.

“I hope, through this forum, we can develop and strengthen networking collaborations and synergy between ASEAN architects,” he added.

On the same occasion, Danny also talked about his experience in the world of architecture before becoming the leader of Makassar City.

His significant legacy is the city’s urban planning that he has supported for more than 30 years.

“Before my mayorship period, I used to work for four mayors before me, helping them in designing and planning Makassar’s urban features,” he explained.

“And during my two term periods, I improved the features to what the city has become today,” he added, drawing applause from the audience.

The city of Makassar, he said, is built with the architectural paradigm. It was developed appropriately, starting from “the spot” to become a beautiful city now.

Also present at this event, Minister of PUPR Dr. Ir. M. Basuki Hadimuljono, M.Sc, Minister of Trade Dr. (H.C.) Zulkifli Hasan, S.E, M.M., Indonesia Monitoring Committee Ar. Going with the theme “Embracing the Future”, the entire series of events will be filled with various interesting activities, from conferences to tourist visits to Makassar’s UNESCO sites.
