JAKARTA – The government is currently throughly strengthening the governance of the National Data Centre (PDN) ecosystem as part of the government’s digital transformation.
Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs (Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said that cyber is like the fourth ‘force’, alongside land, sea and air. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen its governance.
“Everywhere in the world now, cyber is like the fourth force. Ours must be strong, not fragmented,” he said at the Coordination Meeting on Cyber Security Handling on Thursday (1/8).
Furthermore, Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) Abdullah Azwar Anas said there are three efforts that will be made in strengthening PDN management.
Among them is the acceleration of the formation of a Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) under the Directorate General of Informatics Applications, Ministry of Communications and Informatics.
“In the future, a UPT will be formed related to the handling of PDN. We will use BLU from various countries as a benchmark to form it. The target is, with this UPT, there will be competent talents to handle this,” he said.
For the UPT, it is said that the business process is similar to what is running in the Ina Digital GovTech. Thus, the handling of PDN will be much better.
The second effort is to improve the process/work order of PDN management to a world standard.
In order to make it happen, it must comply with international standards, such as Tier-4 certification and specifications. This involves strengthening the crisis team, developing operational procedures, and a reliable backup system.
Minister Anas explained that the third effort is related to strengthening the policies and security operations of the Electronic-Based Government System (SPBE), and the reliability of Business Continuity Plan services.
“Related to strengthening SPBE security policies and organizations, hopefully this can be completed soon by the Minister of Communications and Informatics related to UPT,” he added.
Minister Anas also supports the strengthening of the organizational structure of the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), which plays an important role in the cybersecurity of the PDN.
The former Head of the National Public Procurement Agency (LKPP) hopes that Indonesia will be more prepared to mitigate cyber-attacks and disasters in the future.
“By this way, hopefully, Indonesia will be more anticipatory when facing cyber attacks and various other attacks in terms of institutional strengthening and also strengthening at BSSN,” he concluded.
