MAKASSAR – Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) Abdullah Azwar Anas emphasized the importance of a digital-savvy leader in line with the spirit of transformation that continues to be boosted by the government.
Anas emphasized that the figure of a leader in the bureaucracy is very influential in bringing his team to achieve development targets as expected.
“One of the most important things in the digital transformation process that we are working on together is to have a digitally capable leader. I hope digital leadership can continue to be encouraged,” he said during the national seminar themed “Collaborative Leadership in Realizing National Development Synergy 2025-2029” organized by the National Leadership Alumni Association (IKA PIMNAS) in Makassar, Saturday (20/7).
According to Minister Anas, the digital capability of an organization is significantly determined by human factors such as leadership, work culture, mindset and others.
So far, the digital capability of organizations is considered to be largely determined by technical factors such as mastery of the most advanced technology, ownership of sophisticated research & development facilities, or the ability to apply digital technology.
“It turns out that the most important factor in the digitisation process is the quality of human beings, both in terms of leadership capacity, values, mindset, and positive attitude in responding to advances in digital technology,” he said.
The former Head of LKPP also underlined the importance of collaboration in building a ‘Public Service Toll Road’ through digitalisation, completing infrastructure development that has been carried out by the President.
He stated that the current challenges of digital services require a change from complicated, complex, and lengthy processes, to be simpler, easier, faster, and more transparent.
In the future, people only need to log in once and fill in data to be able to access various services in one portal, with secure personal data and without the need for photocopying ID cards. This one-stop portal is based on the needs of the community, not based on bureaucratic barriers per agency.
Minister Anas said the government has a serious commitment to build digital-based public services and improve bureaucracy through digitalisation. Indonesia now has Govtech “INA Digital” which is an adaptation of Govtech success stories from EGDI TOP 20 countries.
The Indonesian government also has a timeline in the long, medium and short term as directed by the President that there must be significant progress in our digital transformation this year.
Concluding his remarks, Minister Anas hoped that IKA Pimnas alumni can be part of encouraging the bureaucracy to have more impact on society.
“I congratulate IKA Pimnas, hopefully it will have a lot of impact on public services,” he said.
On the same occasion, Acting Governor of South Sulawesi Zudan Arif Fakrulloh, who is also an IKA Pimnas alumni, expressed his appreciation to the Minister of PANRB for providing direction to IKA Pimnas alumni and the ranks of the South Sulawesi Provincial Government.
He hopes that the dialogue that took place during the seminar can be the starting point for the emergence of policies that are beneficial and increasingly prosperous for the people.
“There are three points that we gained from the Minister’s direction. They all are about HR development, bureaucratic reform, and how to improve the quality of public services through digital transformation. Hopefully, our dialogue today can have a strong impact on society,” he said.
