JAKARTA – The government has officially set public holidays and collective leave in 2025 through a joint decree signed by three ministers. Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs Muhadjir Effendy said the decision refers to Presidential Decree No. 8/2024 on Holiday Days, which decided that the number of national holidays and joint leave in 2025 will be 27 days.

“Similar to 2024, there are 27 days in total, consisting of 17 public holidays and 10 days of joint leave,” he said.

The decree is contained in Joint Decree No. 1017/2024, No. 2/2024, and No. 2/2024 on National Holidays and Collective Leave in 2025 signed by the Minister of Religious Affairs, Minister of Manpower, and Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs Office, Jakarta, Monday (14/10).

The joint decree states that units, organizational units, institutions, and companies that function to provide direct services to the public at the central and regional levels that cover the interests of the wider community, can arrange the assignment of employees or workers on public holidays and collective leave in 2025 in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations.

Minister of PANRB Abdullah Azwar Anas explained that the direct services referred to are hospitals, public health centers, institutions that provide telecommunication services, electricity, drinking water, fire fighting, security and order, banking, transportation, and other similar work units.

Services are still provided to the community as well as possible through proportional arrangements tailored to the characteristics of the services performed.

Meanwhile, for the state civil apparatus (ASN), Minister Anas said that the granting of collective leave to ASN employees is the authority of the President. The provision of collective leave is stipulated by a Presidential Decree, as the highest authority in policy, professional development, and ASN management.

“Therefore, the joint decree of the Minister of Religious Affairs, Minister of Manpower, and Minister of PANRB can basically be set as a reference for private institutions in planning production and for the community in planning their activities in 2025,” he said.

Regarding the national holiday for the 2024 simultaneous regional elections which will be held on 27 November 2024, Minister Anas said that it will be further regulated in a Presidential Regulation.

“For holidays in the framework of the 2024 simultaneous elections, the General Election Commission (KPU) will submit it first to the President and will be regulated through a Presidential Regulation,” he said.
