Minister of PANRB and Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Discusses The Career Strengthening of Indonesian Educators

JAKARTA – The transformation of educator management in Indonesia continues to be accelerated. Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) Abdullah Azwar Anas and Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Nadiem Anwar Makarim consolidated the governance of teacher and lecturer career development, in Jakarta, Monday (15/7).

The meeting discussed strategic issues related to the governance of human resources (HR) for lecturers and teachers.

“Today, with Mr Nadiem, we discussed talent management for educators, one of which is related to the welfare of functional positions of teachers and lecturers through career development and strengthening,” said Anas.

The policy direction for CASN procurement in 2024 focuses on fulfilling the need for teachers. The Ministry of PANRB has submitted formation permits for 40,541 ASN candidates within the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology. The formations consist of 15,462 CPNS and 25,079 PPPK.

“We have discussed how to fulfill the ASN positions for teachers and lecturers. We also discussed the career of teachers and lecturers so that in the future it will be much more promising, clear, and uncomplicated,” he explained.

Anas revealed, when looking at the distribution of ASN, the majority of ASNs are still on large islands and urban areas, especially in Java. Therefore, the government initiated that ASNs who dedicate themselves in 3T areas to get career acceleration and more appreciation.

“Looking at this, we are both looking for common ground so that lecturers and teachers in all regions of the country will get a better situation. Their careers will be better and their performance will be optimized,” added the former Head of the National Public Procurement Agency (LKPP).

Efforts to improve the quality of education in Indonesia must be supported by improving the quality and welfare of educators. On the same occasion, Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Nadiem Anwar Makarim said that his party has reviewed various inputs related to the management of teachers and lecturers in Indonesia, including career and welfare guarantees.

“We want to accelerate to ensure that the careers of lecturers and teachers are much more flexible in order to accelerate it in the future,” concluded Nadiem.
