THE EDITOR – A perfect administrative system earned Manggala Urban Village in Makassar City first place in the 2024 National Village and Urban Village Competition held by the Ministry of Home Affairs in Bali on 9 October 2024.
The Editor went to find out what kind of administrative system makes the village the best in Regional III, which covers Kalimantan and Sulawesi.
Its perfection was seen when the Acting Secretary of Makassar City Firman Hamid Pagarra also participated in delivering Manggala Urban Village Head Arwinah Aminuddin to the podium.
The selection process for this village competition is known to have started in early March 2024 until the end of August 2024.
Then, what are the categories that made Manggala Urban Village chosen as the first winner at the national level according to the Ministry of Home Affairs and professors from various leading universities in Indonesia?
1. The administrative system of Manggala Urban Village has been integrated and online
It is reported that the Head of Manggala Urban Village Arwinah Aminuddin uses the e-government system in developing his area.
For example, creating the SIM (Information System) application, the easily accessible Manggala Sigap Banjir Website, website for the village government, Community Complaint Information System, 112 Call Centre Service, and Online Tax Payment Application (PAKINTA).
Arwinah said that the perfection of Manggala Urban Village’s administrative system could be realized thanks to the full support of Makassar Mayor Danny Pomanto.
“We would like to thank the Mayor of Makassar, the Chairperson of the TP PKK, Acting Secretary of Makassar, and the ranks of the Makassar City Government OPD for their dedication and assistance so that Manggala Urban Village can achieve this extraordinary result,” said Arwinah.
When confirmed, the Acting Secretary of Makassar City, Firman Hamid Pagarra, said that his party was indeed mentoring Manggala Urban Village so that it could participate and win the 2024 Village and Urban Village Competition.
“Alhamdulillah, after going through a long process from mentoring, verification, to presentation, Manggala Urban Village managed to bring home the first place,” said Firman.
2. Performance
Kelurahan Manggala is also considered to have good performance as it is able to build cooperation with third parties or investors for the welfare of its people. For example, waste bank management with PT. Pegadaian.
Arwinah’s creativity in encouraging the waste bank programme so that residents can meet their daily needs from this programme was considered very good by the assessment team.
For disaster prevention, village officials have created a map of evacuation routes for their residents in the event of a natural disaster, which is also equipped with flood early detection devices.
3. Addressing Poverty
Manggala Urban Village is considered to have a creative way of tackling poverty and improving the welfare of its residents.
This can be seen from the emergence of dozens of superior products from this village such as mushroom nuggets, shredded chicken, putu tongka, mabello bath scrub, bolu gulung, and so on.
4. Community Sector
Manggala Urban Village’s community service system is considered to be perfect, consisting of Lorong Wisata (Tourism Alley), Lorong MSE, School for Elder Resident, Bonsai Cultivation Group, and so on.
