Looking After the Workers’ Rights, LaNyalla Asks for JHT Revision Won’t be Just Lip Service

Must read

SURABAYA – The Chairman of The House of Regional Representatives of Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI), AA LaNyalla Mahmud Mattalitti, requested that the revision of the Pension Plan (JHT) is not just lip service to reduce the flaming rejection of the public. But it should really side with the workers.

The request was in response to President Joko Widodo’s order to the Minister of Manpower to revise and simplify the regulations of payment of JHT benefits.

“I think the President’s order is sufficient to answer the public’s objections, especially among those who are workers. We shall wait for its implementation. The most important thing is that the revision of the JHT regulations prioritizes the concerns of workers as owners of the rights of JHT funds,” said The Chairman LaNyalla on Wednesday (23/2).

He continued, the revision of the regulations, Permenaker No. 2 of 2022, must be transparent and listen to recommendations from the potential beneficiaries.

“We have to be very aware that JHT is actually the full rights of the workers because it is their money. These workers have a burden every month in the form of deductions from BPJS Health and BPJS Employment contributions. One of the BPJS Employment programs is JHT. This needs to be emphasized because it is a worker’s savings while still actively working,” said former Chairman of the East Java Chamber of Commerce (Kadin).

It is known that the JHT contribution is 5.7% per month. A total of 3.7% are paid by the company and two percent are paid by the workers listed on the payslips

The total of the JHT balance could be found by the works in real time through the BPJSTKU application.

The Chairman LaNyalla confirms that he will continue to oversee the revision from the Permenaker until it really sides with the people.

“Don’t let them get into trouble for using their own savings,” said former Chairman of the Board of the Province (Pemprov) PSSI East Java.

Previously, President Joko Widodo asked that the disbursement process of the JHT as regulated in the Permenaker No. 2 of 2022 about Procedures and Requirements for Payment of JHT Benefits could be simplified.
