JAKARTA – The Legislative Body of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) has approved a bill to amend Law No.19/2006 on the Presidential Advisory Council.
The government and the Legislative Body of DPR RI agreed to continue discussions and make Level II decisions on the bill in the DPR RI.
Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) Abdullah Azwar Anas said the agreement was a form of joint commitment in strengthening the presidential advisory institution in carrying out its duties going forward.
“The government hopes that the well-established cooperation between the House of Representatives and the government can continue to ensure that the role of the Presidential Advisory Council as an institution that provides strategic input and advice to the president remains relevant and beneficial for better governance,” he said when delivering the government’s final views and opinions on the Bill on Amendments to Law No.19/2006 on the Presidential Advisory Council at a Working Meeting of the House of Representatives Legislation Committee in Jakarta, Tuesday (10/9).
According to him, the government believes that the drafting of the Presidential Advisory Council Bill will further strengthen the capacity and capability of the Presidential Advisory Council in providing strategic considerations and advice to the president.
“We also hope that with the amendment to the Presidential Advisory Council Bill, the synergy between the government, the House of Representatives, and various elements of the nation will be more solid in facing the challenges ahead, as well as creating a government that has an impact on the welfare of the community,” he said.
On behalf of the government, Minister Anas expressed his deep appreciation to all parties involved in the discussion of the bill.
According to him, the discussion process has been very productive, starting from the discussion at the Working Committee level to the Formulation Team and Synchronisation Team meetings.
This shows solid and synergistic commitment and cooperation, so that it can be continued with the agenda of the Level I Working Meeting as an important stage in the framework of discussing the Bill of the Presidential Advisory Council.
“Regarding the results of the discussion of the Presidential Advisory Council Bill, which we have heard together through the views of each faction, the government gives high appreciation for the thoughts and inputs that have been submitted,” Anas said.
Anas further said that the government fully supports the results of the discussions that have been formulated together. It is believed that the agreement will also lead to improvements and refinements for the Presidential Advisory Council.
“With this collaborative spirit, we hope that today’s discussion will produce concrete steps, in order to realize a Presidential Advisory Council that is more effective and in accordance with the needs of state administration,” Anas added.
