MAKASSAR – The Mayor of Makassar Moh Ramdhan “Danny” Pomanto mentioned President Jokowi’s career path as an inspiration in realizing advanced Regional Autonomy (Otda).
He conveyed this in the 27th National Autonomy Day Seminar 2023 entitled “Reflections on 27 Years of Regional Autonomy in Realizing Advanced Regional Autonomy, Excellent Indonesia” at the Four Point Hotel by Sheraton, Thursday (13/4).
The national seminar is part of a series of commemorations for the 27th Regional Autonomy Day 2023 which will be held in Makassar City on April 29.
According to Danny, regional autonomy opens opportunities for the birth of national leaders who come from the level of regional heads who gradually climb their political careers to reach the top as head of state.
“The career path of the President of Indonesia Joko Widodo has inspired how to realize advanced regional autonomy. He started his political career as Mayor of Solo, then Governor of DKI Jakarta, and currently as head of state,” he said.

Regional autonomy enables the birth of leaders who are forged with various challenges in managing government and answering various crucial issues to bring people’s welfare.
Regional autonomy also opens opportunities for each region to maximize the potential that exists in their respective regions to be managed as much as possible for the improvement of people’s welfare.
It also provides an opportunity for every child of the nation to make a real contribution to the progress of development–even though they initially have no background as a politician.
According to Danny Pomanto, the government has received many benefits from regional autonomy.
Even so, he did not deny that there are still many problems, especially concurrent government or the transfer of delegation of authority from the center to the regions.
Thus, he hopes that through this national seminar, critical studies will emerge so that problems in the regions can be solved together.
