JAKARTA – The 96th Hari Sumpah Pemuda (Youth Pledge Day), which falls on Monday, 28 October 2024, is expected to be a momentum in developing the potential of youth through activities that encourage the development of creativity and innovation of Indonesian youth.
In addition, this year’s commemoration coincides with the transition period of the new government that will orchestrate the Indonesian nation’s steps to realize the Medium-Term Development targets as a foundation for achieving the 2045 Long-Term Development targets.
This was conveyed by Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) Rini Widyantini who acted as the master of ceremonies while reading out the remarks of Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo during the 96th Youth Pledge Day Commemoration Ceremony at the Ministry of PANRB, Monday (28/10).
“This momentum is an opportunity for the Indonesian people to give greater attention to youth development agendas as an important part of Indonesia’s development, both in the position of youth as the subject of development and as the object of development,” she said.
Furthermore, as the subject of development, some Indonesian youth are said to have the ability to actively participate in various sectors of national development as well as in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agenda which is a global agenda.
Meanwhile, for others, Indonesian youth still need empowerment services to build their potential until it becomes a strength in leadership, pioneering, and entrepreneurship.
“The hope for youth to play a greater role in Indonesia’s national development is right, because the youth are essentially the owners of the future,” he said.
Furthermore, Minister Rini also invited all young state civil apparatus (ASN), especially the ASN of the Ministry of PANRB, to be more enthusiastic and love Indonesia by always doing something good for the progress of the Indonesian nation in realizing a clean, competent, accountable and serving bureaucracy.
One to note, the commemoration of the Youth Pledge Day in 2024 carries the theme ‘Maju Bersama Indonesia Raya’, that conveys a message to improve and advance various elements of youth services to achieve a great Indonesia, a big Indonesia, and a prosperous Indonesia.
This effort is carried out in the form of joint, simultaneous, synchronous, and well-coordinated promotion efforts at both the central and regional levels.
In terms of services, regional governments have an important role in mobilizing youth services. It is said that this role is manifested in the form of good and sustainable youth policies and programmes, and is manifested in the form of regional action plans (RAD) for youth services oriented towards increasing the Youth Development Index (IPP) adjusted to the conditions of each region.
“Therefore, every effort to improve youth policy at the regional level deserves the highest appreciation as this will have an impact on expanding the scope and reach of youth services so that there is no one youth who does not get services,” said Minister Rini.
On the same occasion, high appreciation was also expressed for the achievements of the leadership and pioneering contributions of Indonesian youth in various fields of development. It was said that a great and prosperous Indonesia is calling for the participation and fight of Indonesian youth.
Furthermore, Minister Rini invited all parties to open the widest possible opportunity for Indonesian youth to participate in all dimensions of Indonesia’s development in accordance with their respective competencies and passions.
“Let us improve our care for Indonesian youth through improved youth services, improved governance of youth services, and resource support until the condition of Indonesian youth becomes better as reflected by an increase in the Youth Development Index,” she concluded.
