THE EDITOR – The signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Jakarta Medical Devices and Facilities Safety Center (BPAFK) and PT B. Braun that took place not long ago is one of the government’s strategic steps in supporting the improvement of the quality and safety of medical devices in Indonesia.
The German medical technology company, PT B. Braun Medical Indonesia, recently inaugurated their Technical Service facility building in Cikampek, Karawang, West Java. The presence of B.Braun is expected to encourage Indonesia to become a centre of excellence for health services for the its people who number 270 million and the Southeast Asian region.
“Through this collaboration, we commit to optimize the testing and calibration services for medical devices,” said Head of BPAFK Jakarta Subadri to The Editor, Tuesday (17/12/2024).
In addition, he continued, this collaboration will also bring significant impacts on the advancement of the medical device industry in Indonesia.
That’s because the German company has collaborated with the government to establish a competency improvement programme in Health Technology Management through the BPAFK Academy, which has been accredited by the Directorate General of Health Personnel.

On the same occasion, Director General of Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices of the Ministry of Health Rizka Andalucia said that the steps taken by B.Braun have also supported the third pillar of health transformation.
“What B.Braun has done is supporting health transformation, especially the third pillar transformation, namely the transformation of resilience in the health sector, especially the transformation of resilient medical devices and pharmaceuticals,” she said in her speech.
In more detail, Rizka added that Indonesia still has a lot of homework to do regarding health issues, including the availability of medical devices.
“More than 70 years after Indonesia’s independence, we still have a lot of homework to solve health problems in Indonesia. Thus, we hope that B.Braun’s efforts can support this health transformation,” she added.
In addition to machine repair services, B. Braun Indonesia also provides faster, more efficient and high-quality after-sales services, including repair, calibration, and spare parts replacement. With more modern and efficient facilities, B. Braun Indonesia hopes to continue innovating and developing better solutions to meet customer needs.
WHAT IS THE PRICE?
B. Braun Indonesia President Director Rainer Ruppel specifically said that the existence of this Technical Service facility aims to ensure the availability and smooth operation of medical equipment, so that health services to the community can run optimally. Especially to remote areas in Indonesia where access to healthcare is still very minimal.
He did not say specifically about the prices made for each specification of medical equipment B.Braun sells.
However, he ensures that B.Braun’s products are of above-average quality and the company also guarantees that the operational medical equipment purchased by the hospital will be continuously monitored and maintained. Thus, there will be no need to pay expensive costs for service when the purchased medical equipment is damaged.
