SURABAYA – Prabowo Subianto’s first speech after being declared as the elected president by the General Elections Commission (KPU) on Wednesday received appreciation and praise from the Chairman of Indonesian Regional Representative Council (DPD RI) AA LaNyalla Mahmud Mattalitti.
LaNyalla assessed what Prabowo said in his speech showing that he is still a true patriot, because he had the morale to work for the advancement of the nation and state above all else.
“Apart from relying on hope and prayer to God Almighty, Mr. Prabowo also invites all elements of the nation to be in the same pace and rhythm, solely for the benefit of the nation and state, because we realize the tough challenges ahead, along with the global changes that have and are taking place,” he said.
The senator from East Java also appreciated Prabowo’s attitude of thanking all parties, including contestants number 01 and 03, as well as the press.
In fact, he continued, Prabowo also emphasized the importance of press freedom as a pillar of control over the journey of this nation and state.
LaNyalla had previously expressed his opinion when asked for a response to the Constitutional Court’s decision last Monday.
He said that all parties involved in the dispute at the Constitutional Court should accept the final and binding decision.
“We should all take lessons from this. We must then join hands and work together to continue the development of this country, as well as reflect and contemplate, especially on the state system, because Indonesia’s challenges in the future are getting tougher, with the threat of technological and environmental disruption due to global warming,” he said.
The disruption, LaNyalla continued, must be addressed with a spirit of togetherness, gotong royong, and in strong national ties, all of which are in Pancasila.
Those things, in contrast, do not exist in liberal values characterized by individualism and materialism.
To the winners of the 2024 Presidential Election, Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, LaNyalla hopes that both of them can embrace all parties and become president for all Indonesian people.
“Hopefully the new President and Vice President can bring Indonesia to advance, can develop Indonesia, and be able to respond to the aspirations of various levels of society,” he said.
