THE EDITOR – Budo Tourism Village in Wori Sub-district, North Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi, should be a role model for other villages in the area.
This was said by the Director General of Village Governance of the Ministry of Home Affairs, La Ode Ahmad P. Bolombo, during a working visit to Budo Village on Wednesday (13/11/3024).
The location of Budo Tourism Village, said La Ode, is very strategic because it is close to Manado, Bitung, and world marine tourism iconic areas such as Bunaken National Park.
“Budo Village can be the epicenter of tourist villages in North Sulawesi. It can be replicated in other regions, become a pilot village, and needs to be promoted more to build strong village branding,” he said.
HOW IS IT?
To achieve this goal, La Ode invited village heads and officials to jointly develop and advance the village. He encouraged cross-sector collaboration in developing village potential, such as involving the Tourism Office, Education and Culture Office, Bina Marga Office, Health Office, and other agencies, in addition to the Village Community Empowerment Office (PMD).
In addition, to accelerate the village progress in the North Sulawesi region, La Ode requested that the PMD Office immediately coordinate with the Regional Management Consultant (RMC) of North Sulawesi, which is currently at the forefront of the province in the Strengthening Village Governance and Development Programme (P3PD).
A PARTICULARLY EMOTIONAL VISIT
La Ode said that this visit was emotional for him because North Sulawesi was the first place where he served the country. He expressed his love for the region, especially the huge potential of villages in North Sulawesi.
Furthermore, he reminded villages in North Minahasa in the future to participate in village and kelurahan competitions, as well as participate in the National Village Day which will be held on 15 January. He also hoped that villages in Wori Sub-district could take part in this activity as a form of appreciation for their local potential.
ACHIEVING SELF-RELIANT VILLAGE TARGET THROUGH P3PD PROGRAMME
To create self-reliant villages, the Indonesian government is currently working with the World Bank on the Strengthening Village Governance and Development Programme (P3PD).
There are five ministries mandated to run this programme, namely the Ministry of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions, Ministry of Home Affairs, Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs, Ministry of Finance, and Ministry of National Development Planning. This programme is to make quality village expenditure in accordance with community competencies.
On the one hand, P3PD training is held to educate village officials to be more innovative and creative in making policies related to their villages.
On the other hand, the community is also considered to be more participatory in encouraging the development of their residence.
The capacity building training for village officials is conducted by the Ministry of Home Affairs through the Directorate General of Village Government Development.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Villages and Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration targets to increase community capacity through village and local village facilitators.
As a model of this, village field schools, digital villages, and digital ambassadors in villages are prepared.
