A Story From Indonesia: This PPPK Participant from Banyuwangi Took the Test in An Ambulance

Must read

THE EDITOR – Despite recovering from a recent childbirth, Titin, one of the participants in the selection of Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK) in Banyuwangi, had a strong determination to take the exam. While being monitored by medical personnel, Titin was allowed to take the exam even from inside the ambulance on Sunday (8/12/2024).

Titin has been a casual labourer (THL) at the Public Works, Housing and Settlement Office (PU CKPP) UPTD Genteng Sub-district since 2014. She took the exam in the ambulance because she was recovering after giving birth.

“I have been working as a casual labourer at the PU CKPP Banyuwangi office for 10 years and 11 months. That’s why I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to take the PPPK exam this time,” she said.

Titin said that when she joined the PPPK registration process, she was heavily pregnant. One week before the scheduled Computer Assisted Test (CAT), she had to undergo vaginal delivery. However, after giving birth, she had to be hospitalized as her condition still needed healing.

“As I felt that it was still not possible for me to move normally, I asked permission from the PPPK selection committee to take the test in an ambulance. Alhamdulillah, they allow it,” she said.

Titin was scheduled to take the exam on Sunday afternoon (8/12/2024). The exam took place at the Banyuwangi Personnel, Education, and Training Agency (BKPP) office.

She departed from her home accompanied by a number of family members from Tulungrejo Village, Glenmore.

Arriving at the exam location, the BKPP Banyuwangi committee team and the National Civil Service Agency (BKN) CAT team, immediately prepared everything needed for Titin. She took the test using laptop facilities provided by the committee. She was also directly accompanied by supervisors from the BKN CAT team.

“Alhamdulillah, I was able to take the exam smoothly. With more than 10 years of service, I really hope I can qualify as a PPPK,” said Titin, who registered for the technical formation of Operational Service Organiser at the CKPP Public Works Office.

Banyuwangi Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani appreciated Titin’s persistence in taking the exam despite not being fully recovered.

“We really appreciate the persistence of Titin who continues to take the PPPK competency test even though she is in an unhealthy condition. Hopefully, she will get the best and expected results,” she said.

Ipuk also thanked BKN for allowing participants who needed special treatment to take the exam in an ambulance.

Head of the Banyuwangi Personnel and Training Agency Ilzam Nuzuli said, after getting information that there were participants who were sick and needed special treatment, his party immediately coordinated with the BKN CAT Team in Banyuwangi.

“As the implementation of the PPPK exam is under the full supervision of the BKN team, they immediately responded by giving permission to conduct the exam,” said Ilzam.

The PPPK competency test in Banyuwangi was held from 4-16 December 2024. This PPPK selection is the first stage which was attended by 3,353 participants. This selection is carried out to fulfil the 614 formations needed for technical personnel, health workers, and teachers.
