JAKARTA – Integration and digitalisation of event organizing is one of the priorities in the Electronic-Based Government System (EGB).

After the event licensing digitalisation trial that began on 11 September 2023, the process is now in the stage of fixing a number of obstacles found. This is part of a form of bureaucratic reform as directed by President Jokowi.

Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Abdullah Azwar Anas appreciated the swift action of Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno and his staff.

“Licensing for the event is one of the priority services targeted in EGB,” said Minister Anas after a meeting with Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno at the office of Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform in Jakarta, Thursday (2/11).

“We really appreciate the completion of digital-based licensing involving the Polri, Ministry of Investment, and several other agencies, which is now at the stage of refinement. We give a thumbs up for the better quality of public services related to event organizing,” he added.

Anas said that event organizers, which are part of the creative economy, can be a lever for the economy. Moreover, the creative economy sector has created millions of jobs.

“This means that if event permits are easier with this integration and digitalisation, it will encourage a lot of job creation,” he said.

Furthermore, he explained that the integration and digitalisation of event licensing stems from President Jokowi’s direction in a recent cabinet meeting which decided to strengthen the EGB.

“There are 9 priorities that are being improved by the government, one of which is event licensing,” said Anas, who is also one of the National EGB Coordinators.

He then expressed his appreciation to all relevant ministries/agencies that have worked hard to realize the digitalisation of integrated event licensing services through significant business cuts.

“By cutting the business processes, with the ease of licensing, with deregulation, hopefully there will be more events in Indonesia to drive the local economy,” he said.

“Now, ones that need to be improved from the findings during the trial of this service will be refined by the relevant ministries/agencies,” he continued.

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno explained that there were several problems encountered after the digitalisation trial of event permits.

The plan is for President Joko Widodo to attend the grand launching of the digitalisation of event licensing after all the improvements are completed.

“This is the biggest digitalisation-based reform in the event industry, which has a total of more than 3,000 events per year,” said Sandi Uno. The economic output, he said, reaches around Rp170 trillion.

By utilizing digital systems and cutting business processes, it is expected that events in various regions will grow.

During a recent trial, all agency systems were integrated, including those of the Online Single Submission (OSS) and the Polri.

Cross-sector collaboration on this digitalisation of event licensing makes it easier for businesses.

Sandiaga said that the meeting with Minister Anas also discussed improving the quality of human resources in the tourism sector.

The progress in tourism and the creative economy is also proof that bureaucracy can take part in these leading sectors.

Sandiaga agreed with Minister Anas that the bureaucracy must benefit the wider community.

“The impact is what we measure based on data and evidence. We agree to ensure that we improve the quality of tourism human resources,” Sandiaga concluded.
