MALANG – The National Food Agency (NFA) held a drawing competition with the theme “I Love Local Food” on Sunday (23/10) as part of the 2022 Gelar Pangan Nusantara (GPN).
The competition was held in Malang, East Java, and was attended by around 150 elementary and junior high school students within the city.
This event was also a means for the Head of NFA Arief Prasetyo Adi to campaign for the Tasty, Healthy, DBSN (Diverse, Balanced and Safe Nutrition) Eating Movement in front of the contestants who are still young.
According to a post on their Instagram account, @badanpangannasional, it is known that, through this event, the works of the students can describe the condition of using local food to meet food and nutritional needs.
“This diverse, nutritionally balanced, and safe food is reflected in the composition of the contents of the plate, of which ⅓ of it is a staple food–not necessarily rice, the other ⅓ is vegetables, and ⅙ of it is side dishes. And the rest ⅙ are must to be fruits,” Arief explained.
After the students finished their drawings, Arief took the time to appear on stage and talk about the movement being promoted by the National Food Agency.
He even threw some questions to stimulate the enthusiasm of the students so that the discussion could continue and be well received by them.
Backstage, the assessment was carried out seriously and resulted in a total of 12 winners, with each level having 6 winners.
The 1st place winner from elementary school level got a prize of IDR3,000,000, the 2nd place winner got IDR2,500,000, and the 3rd place winner got IDR2,000,000.
The 1st contender from elementary school level got a prize of IDR1,500,000, the 2nd contender got IDR1,200,000, and the 3rd contender got IDR1,000,000.
Meanwhile, the 1st place winner from the junior high school level got a prize of IDR5,000,000, the 2nd place winner got IDR4,000,000, and the 3rd place winner got IDR3,000,000.
The 1st contender from junior high school level got a prize of IDR2,500,000, the 2nd contender got IDR2,000,000, and the 3rd contender got IDR1,500,000.
Tasty, Healthy, DBSN (Diverse, Balanced and Safe Nutrition) Eating Movement
It is known that Indonesia has diverse food sources, such as cassava, sago, taro, sorghum, breadfruit, and many more. This variety should be utilized as much as possible.
It is because to be able to live a healthy, active, and productive life, 40 types of nutrients are needed–which cannot be obtained by using only one type of food.
This optimization of local food is also in line with President Jokowi’s instruction, which emphasizes that domestic food potential and resources must be utilized in the midst of the threat of a global food crisis.
The President said that local food sources should be developed in order to reduce dependence on one or two certain food commodities.
With this, it is hoped that food self-sufficiency will be created in every region throughout Indonesia.
