JAKARTA – The Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform received the 2023 Public Information Transparency Award with the title of National Best Informative Public Agency.
The award from the Central Information Commission (KIP) was presented by Vice President Ma’ruf Amin and received by Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Abdullah Azwar Anas, Tuesday (19/12).
In his remarks, Vice President Ma’ruf Amin said public information transparency is an essential element in realizing good governance.
“Public information transparency is one of the determinants of the success of bureaucratic reform programmes,” he said.
Based on the reports he received, the level of compliance of public bodies in implementing Public Information Transparency this year is getting better.
The indication is that the number of public bodies that hold the title of informative has increased significantly.
In 2018, only 15 public bodies were classified as informative. However, in 2023, the number jumped to 139.
He further explained that in 2018 a total of 303 institutions were considered uninformative, while in 2023 the number dropped to 147 institutions.
“A number of these achievements should be a driver and encouragement for us to continue to improve. Because policies related to Public Information Transparency as mandated by the law must be carried out collaboratively and sustainably not only at the center but also in the regions,” he said.
Vice President Ma’ruf Amin also reminded public agencies to remain aware of cases of personal data leakage and pay attention to equitable distribution of information services.
Equitable distribution of public information services throughout Indonesia is still a homework that needs to be done together.
The government must continue to strive for the development of communication infrastructure, especially in Disadvantaged, Frontier, and Outermost areas. Moreover, Indonesia is in the midst of a general election.
Concluding his remarks, Vice President Ma’ruf Amin advised that the Public Information Transparency Award can be an activity that ignites the spirit to optimize the fulfillment of public information transparency by all state administrators and public bodies.
“I congratulate the awardees. Make this award a reminder to maintain and improve the standard of information services to the public,” he said.
When met after receiving the award, Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Abdullah Azwar Anas expressed his pride in the staff of the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform who continue to work hard to ensure that information in the ministry is delivered transparently.
He hopes that this achievement can continue to encourage better performance of the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform.
“We are grateful for the title given to the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform as the National Best Informative Public Agency. For us, this award is a form of appreciation because it is part of the effort to encourage bureaucratic reform,” he said.
He also said that he believes that the trend of information transparency in the future will get better with the implementation of the Electronic-Based Government System (EBGS).
“With EBGS that continues to be accelerated by the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform, I am sure that information transparency will be better at all levels of government,” he concluded.
