Mahyudin to Raise Aid from The Senators of East Kalimantan on Tremendous Flood in Sangatta, East Kutai

JAKARTA The occurring flood in Sangatta City, East Kutai Regency, East Kalimantan (Kaltim) Province, urged the Vice chairman of The House of Regional Representatives of Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI), Mahyudin, followed by other senators of the Kaltim electoral district, such as Aji Mirni Mawarni, Zainal Arifin and Nanang Sulaiman, raising the humanitarian aid for the victims.

“Despite the fact that the aid is limited in coverage toward the affected residents, it is hoped that it can ease the burden of the people who become the victims,” he said in a statement, Monday (21/3).

Standing firm together with the three senators from the Kaltim, Mahyudin, setting up a plan to immediately send aid to the victims of the Sengatta affected by the flood and its surroundings, as a form of social concern and care to those in need.

“The aid raised from us, as the Senator of East Kalimantan to at least becoming a remark of our concern in helping to ease the burden of the flood-affected community,” he said.

Following with rapid response, in addition, Mahyudin requested the local government to be active and take quick action to carry out the process of helping and evacuating the victims trapped in the flood. Thus, the rapid response would minimize the loss of life, considering extensive coverage of flood.

“Avoiding casualties due to the extensive range of the flood, SAR personnel are required to be deployed shortly by the Local governments in order to maximize the evacuation process for victims trapped in floods,” he said.

In addition to the evacuation, he asked the regional government and their staff to immediately build evacuation posts and public kitchens in several affected areas. As well as to ensure all the main needs of the refugees, such as clean water and food. According to him, it is necessary to provide various medicines to anticipate various post-flood diseases and baby equipment.

“Meeting the various needs of the refugees must be well ensured, such as the mandatory needs, food, medicine and baby equipment. Because they can no longer shop anywhere around in flood conditions,” he said.

Addressing his concern, Mahyudin to hope that the flood in Sengatta and its surroundings would subside soon. So that people can carry out normal activities, and to revive the wheels of the economy in Sangatta.

“Looking forward to our prayer, that the flood will soon pass from Sangatta, East Kutai. So that community and economic activities can re-established as usual,” he concluded.
