Deputy Minister of Home Affairs: Implementation of P3PD is A Strategic Step to Strengthen Village Government

Must read

BALI – Deputy Minister of Home Affairs John Wempi Wetipo said that the implementation of the Village Government and Development Strengthening Program (P3PD) is a strategic step in strengthening the institutional capacity of village government.

This effort is considered to indirectly also improve the quality of village spending.

For this reason, Wempi appreciates the Regional Government Stakeholder Strengthening Meeting in the context of implementing P3PD Regional I 2023 at the Vouk Hotel and Suites Ballroom Nusa Dua, Badung, Bali not long ago.

He believes that this meeting will contribute to efforts to strengthen and develop the village.

In connection with this activity, Wempi conveyed a number of steps that stakeholders need to take.

First, it is necessary to carry out technical preparations in implementing the program at the provincial level in detail, namely by calculating various needs.

Next, the training activities must be completed on time, for around 7 weeks. This is because the next few months will coincide with the 2024 general election.

“In connection with the election, it is requested that the provincial government immediately submit the activity implementation plan to the district/city government where the P3PD is located,” Wempi explained.

In order to maximize coordination of P3PD implementation at regional and central levels, he added, it is also necessary to form a regional P3PD implementation team or a joint secretariat.

The Ministry of Home Affairs, he said, would facilitate the formation of Joint Secretariats in each province through the Central Project Management Unit (CPMU) Secretariat.

He hopes that by holding this meeting will be able to gather input from all stakeholders to serve as a reference for implementing P3PD training.

“I believe that the meeting participants will make the best and most significant contribution to the successful implementation of this activity. For this reason, I give the highest appreciation for the cooperation and support provided,” he said.

Wempi also emphasized that the government has a serious commitment to development efforts in the village.

The reason is that villages have a vital role for the nation, one of which is in strengthening food security and alleviating poverty.

President Joko Widodo, he said, has also provided guidance on various occasions to strengthen villages so that food supplies can be sufficient.

Therefore, commitment to strengthening villages needs to continue to be encouraged to face various other challenges in the future.

“Villages will be successful actors in holding the 2024 elections. 80 or so thousand villages, if we don’t work together, then it is very unlikely that we will succeed in our big agenda in holding simultaneous elections in 2024,” he concluded. (NEWS ADVERTORIAL)
