JAKARTA – Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Abdullah Azwar Anas continues to encourage the presence of public service malls (MPP) in various regions in the country.

MPP is an integrated public service concept where one place serves hundreds of permits/documents needed by citizens and the business world.

Currently, there are 163 MPPs in Indonesia, including 10 new MPPs which were inaugurated on Tuesday (31/10).

The new MPPs are located in Buleleng, Sekadau, Palangkaraya, East Manggarai, Kupang, Morowali, Bone, Lebak, Central Aceh, and West Tulang Bawang.

In each MPP, there are services for hundreds of permits/documents.

“Congratulations to the residents of the 10 districts/cities whose MPPs were inaugurated today. This can boost the quality of public services in each region,” said Anas.

The MPP portion, he continued, is now evenly distributed between large cities/regencies on Java and outside Java.

“Now it is 50 percent in Java and 50 percent outside Java. The quality of public services is becoming more equal, it is already Indonesia-centric,” he explained.

“This means that we don’t only find good service in Java, but also in many areas outside Java,” he added.

Furthermore, Anas said that the development of MPP must continue to be accelerated along with the presence of MPP Digital.

“Direct services are still needed because not everyone can use digital services,” he said.

To accelerate the development of MPP, Anas added, now the PANRB Ministry has carried out regulatory transformation.

Among other things, the MPP does not have to be in a new building, and does not require a minimum area.

“Use buildings that are not yet used optimally, which are idle. For example, there is a city in Papua that has made an MPP using a terminal belonging to the Ministry of Transportation. What’s important is not the physical appearance, but the quality and integration of the service,” he explained.

“So we hope that the governors, regents/mayors will immediately speed up the presence of the MPP so that services in their regions will be better. It’s simple, you don’t have to build a building so it’s more economical. In the regions there are a lot of idle assets, that’s all you need to take advantage of,” continued Anas at the event which was attended by dozens of governors and regents/mayors online and offline.

Deputy for Public Services at the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform, Diah Natalisa, said that the implementation of the MPP is one of the bureaucratic reform efforts that is able to improve the quality of life for the Indonesian people.

It is hoped that the presence of this MPP will make it easier for the public to access public services.

“The presence of MPP in the community is expected to be able to provide affordable access to public services and also encourage ease of business activities in the regions,” he concluded.
