JAKARTA – The Directorate General of Village Government Development (Bina Pemdes) of the Ministry of Home Affairs throned the villages and administrative villages that won the 2023 Village and Administrative Village Competition (Lomdeskel) as champion, second ranked, and third ranked at Discovery Hotel, Ancol a while ago.
The award certificate was given directly by the Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian to each winner.
“The champion gets a motorcycle!” said Tito.
Lomdeskel is part of the Village Governance Strengthening and Developing Program (P3PD) formed by the Indonesian government and the World Bank.
Through this competition, Tito hopes that each village head will be able to develop their respective villages so that excessive urbanization does not occur.
He said that he doesn’t wish what is happening in South Korea and Japan, where villages are empty without inhabitants, to also happen in Indonesia.
As most Indonesian people live in villages, he hopes that village and rural development can continue.
Apart from awards to villages and administrative villages, Tito also gave Upakarya Wanua Nugraha awards to 15 regional heads.
They are the Governor of Riau, Governor of Lampung, Governor of DKI Jakarta, Governor of Bali, Governor of East Kalimantan, Governor of NTB, and Governor of NTT.
Meanwhile, the regents who received the same award included the Regent of Kampar, Berau Regent, and Alor Regent.
The Upakarya Wanua Nugraha award is given to regional heads who are considered successful in leading their villages and administrative villages so that they can achieve national achievements.
