JAKARTA – The Chairman of The House of Regional Representative of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI), AA LaNyalla Mahmud Mattalitti, in term of the extension of the Presidential period in the Republic of Indonesia, he pointed out that his institution will not let such event to happen.
“Here with I disclose to all of you that we, DPD RI is a doorstop to prevent the additional of three terms of the Presidential period,” said LaNyalla while giving the Keynote Speech in Dialog Kebangsaan on the topic of ‘Finding Solutions for the Nation Issues’, a collaboration between DPD RI and Gerakan Bela Negara at Sriwijaya Room, Senayan Parliament Complex B Building, Monday (14/3).
In line with the amendment of the constitution, this senator from East Java, acknowledged that there is no issue forward whenever the political parties intended doing the amendment of the constitution.
But as the regional representative, LaNyalla declared that DPD RI is a non-partisan institution.
“We are the amendment. We are the non-partisan. We, as an independent, also carry the right to submit ourselves to become the President. At this point, I’m letting you to have the stage should all of you are pleased to amend the constitution,” he explained.
According to him, the presidential channel out of an independent channel is no longer considered as taboo.
“There is an independent channel both for the Mayor and Regent. There is also one for the governor. Why not for the president? Why? Feeling Afraid?” LaNyalla asked.
In the event, LaNyalla encouraged the people of Indonesia to supervise the performance of the Constitutional Court (MK).
“I am addressing you the concern to all of us that we should oversee the actions of the Constitutional Court, because they may make decision wherever they please and act as if they were God,” he asserted.
In fact, there is a higher and unlimited authority behind the power of the MK and that is the power of God, Allah SWT.
“Therefore, we are to give a warning to MK that eventually, they should be held accountable over the decisions they have made so far. Let’s not live the world to play around,” he stated.
Stated by LaNyalla, reckless decisions of the Constitutional Court are caused by the absence of supervision.
“Thus, we have to supervise the MK. To this end, they have made irresponsible decisions of their own. We demand our rights,” LaNyalla emphasized.
He conveyed, in an election, how is it possible that the vote is conducted on the previous election basis.
“Under the 2019 election basis, how is it possible for us to look for a president for the year of 2024? Should it be separated, the DPR election must come first then the presidential election. Let’s convey the truth to the MK. No matter how much we have been rejected, we have to believe that someday we are going to win this. I urge to all people to claim for our rights,” LaNyalla urged.
According to LaNyalla, there is still much to be done in this country. “In 2024, It is about time for us to have proper future generations and leaders to lead the nation,” he said.
Attending the occasion were Senators from DPD RI, Special Staff to the Chairman of DPD RI Sefdin Syaifuddin, Togar M Nero and Brigadier General (Pol) Amostian, Secretary General of DPD RI Rahman Hadi and Deputy for Administration of DPD RI Lalu Niqman Zahir.
Further attendee at the venue were the Chairman of the Syuro Council of the Ummat Party Professor Amien Rais virtually, Chairman of the National Council for the Pergerakan Indonesia Maju Professor Din Syamsuddin, Professor at Law and Society of Diponegoro University Professor Suteki, General Chairman of Gerakan Bela Negara Brigadier General TNI (Retired) Hidayat Purnomo and other activists and constitutional observer.
