BENGKULU – Vice chairman of The House of Regional Representatives of Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI) Sultan B Najamudin asked the government through the Ministry of Education and Culture to adjust the mechanism of the teacher certification proportionally and make it transparent for the teachers and educators throughout the regions.

It was conveyed by Sultan right after receiving aspirations from the non-certificated teachers from all around Bengkulu City–the capital of Bengkulu Province–in the representative office of DPD RI Bengkulu Province, Thursday (10/3).

According to him, the current regulations and the mechanism of teacher certification have caused such a social gap between the teachers the fact that they have the same amount of workload.

Don’t let the attempt of advancing the quality of teachers eventually lead to such an injustice among the teachers.

“We noticed that there is an unproportional treatment and appreciation from the state towards the non-certificated teachers. Therefore, this point definitely causes the increasement of social inequality and welfare among the teachers,” he stated firmly.

All in all, Sultan continued, we are here to support the government’s effort in upgrading the quality and performance of the teachers. However, it is not supposed to be done by classification and then treating the teachers improperly balanced.

“The attempt to increase the quality of teachers would be better if it’s adjusted with the principle of justice and equity that is valued through numbers of variables, such as the length of the dedication and the character as well as the performance of the teacher. Not only considered based on an academic point of view,” revealed the former Governor of Bengkulu.

Furthermore, Sultan also hopes that the government could give proportional appreciation to all teachers. Don’t let the big gap of payments between the certificated teachers and the non-certificated to happen.

“The appreciation from the state to teachers is an obligation that must be fairly completed. So all teachers would have motivations and work orientation that is equal with the national education goals,” he concluded.
