Those various events should alert the government to be aware on the importance to provide guidance of knowledge about disasters to the children, starting from pre-disaster, emergency response, and post-disaster.

“I think that the curriculum about disasters is really needed, which will be included in subjects to the students of all levels, elementary school, junior high school and senior high school. Because, so far, there have been too many victims with minimum unawareness in dealing with disasters,” said LaNyalla, Thursday (10/3).

The chairman added, women and children are the potential group to become victims when a disaster happens.

“That’s why systematic efforts are required so that someone could have the knowledge and ability to take proper and quick action on before, during , and after the disaster,” he explained.

The lesson about disasters, LaNyalla continued, must be taught since the early stage. This refers to a long time lesson, because the knowledge will be brought and applied until their adulthood.

“Later, the knowledge about disaster will be transferred to their families, so that it would strengthen the endurance of the family and so as the community in dealing with a disaster,” he stated.

“ Furthermore, by being ready when a disaster happens, it would eventually minimize the fatalities, service disconnections , and the damage,” he continued.

At this point, all of the regional leaders must be ready support the program, as one of the efforts to anticipate the management of disaster.

LaNyalla, encourages the need of synergy between the Ministry of Education, Social Services and Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) to prepare the proper curriculum in term of disasters.

“Regarding with the educator, schools could involve The well-trained Disasters Cadets (Tagana), BPBD teams or the nature enthusiast college students,” he concluded.
