“The signing of the MoU between North Sumatra Pengda of Kagama and Medan BBPVP Medan aims to improve the competence of the livestock and agriculture workforce through vocational training and community productivity,” Mulianta Sitepu told The Editor on Monday (23/12/2024).

In the near future, North Sumatra Pengda of Kagama through this activity will be involved in the national food security programme in the form of fulfilling nutritious food for the community, especially school children in North Sumatra.

One to note, the signing of the MoU between North Sumatra Pengda of Kagama and Medan BBPVP was carried out on Monday (23/12/2024).

“In a short time, North Sumatra Kagama wants to play a role in participating in national food security, especially in providing nutritious food for the community, especially for school children,” said Mulianta Sitepu when talking to The Editor on Monday (23/12/2024).

The event started in the morning with the presence of Minister of Labour Professor Yusserli. The Vocational Festival was also attended by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

Then, in the afternoon, the MoU signing was held after lunch with a number of officials present such as Head of BBPVP Faried Abdurrahman Nur Yuliono, Director of Vocational Training and Apprenticeship (Bina Lavogan) Sholahudin, and Head of the North Sumatra Manpower Office Ismail Sinaga.

Mulianta Sitepu said that one of the ways to make this programme happen is by involving all UGM alumni who are members of the Kagama Branch Management in educating farmers in North Sumatra.

The alumni will also involve the local government to cultivate edamame, a type of legume that is rich in nutrients.

“It is ironic that this crop is exported to Japan, but it is less desirable and known domestically. This plant has also not been cultivated in North Sumatra, only in East Java, while it is rich in complex carbohydrates as a source of energy needed in the body to support children’s daily physical activities,” Mulianta explained.

“The Minister motivated and set a target for the Ministry of Manpower in 2025 to provide 1 million skilled workers who are reliable and ready to be recruited by user companies provided by BBPVP throughout Indonesia.

North Sumatra Pengda of Kagama itself, which has approximately 1,300 members spread across all districts/cities in North Sumatra, has experience in various fields in plantations, agriculture, fisheries, tourism, business and others; we are ready to collaborate,” he added.

Not only that, in the future, Mulianta Sitepu said that North Sumatra Kagama will also collaborate with Medan BBPVP to cultivate the fisheries system through quality training.
