MAKASSAR – Commodore Edi Haryanto thanked Makassar Mayor Danny Pomanto for successfully holding the Multilateral Naval Exercise Komodo (MNEK) 2023.

“To the Mayor and the people of Makassar, I express my deepest gratitude for all the support that came in various ways for this event,” said Edi in a talk with The Editor on Monday (12/6).

According to Edi, Danny Pomanto was able to prepare security for the MNEK event as well as moral and even material support.

“Thank you very much for the support in various ways: hospitality, security, moral support, even material,” he said.

He also emphatically said that the Makassar City Government had a very big contribution to the success of the MNEK which invited dozens of participants from all over the world.

“The Makassar City Government has contributed greatly to the success of MNEK 2023,” he said.

According to Edi, this support is a form of awareness that MNEK is not only in the interests of the central government, but also regional interests.

“This is a proof that all parties are aware that MNEK is not only in the interests of the Navy, but also national and regional,” said Edi.

Praised by the International Community

Not only did he receive praise from the TNI, Danny Pomanto’s efforts in preparing a diplomatic space between the TNI and the international community also received thumbs up from participants who came from various countries.

“This proves that Indonesia can be used as a neutral place for diplomacy. And this further strengthens Indonesia’s role in building world peace,” said Edi.

“We as Indonesian people feel proud of holding the MNEK,” he added.

Edi explained that the TNI needed Sakti for 5 months in preparation for the MNEK 2023.

According to him, the support from the city government and the people of Makassar was one of the main encouragements in the success of the event.

“The challenge is to prepare very large and complex activities in a very short time. We only have about 5 months. But with determination, sincerity, and the cohesiveness of everyone involved, the preparations can be carried out as well as possible,” said Edi again.

“The appreciation and very positive impression from the international community, the delegations of friendly countries and the people of Makassar have become their own pride, satisfaction and happiness,” he said.
