SAKIP Shows Positive Trend in 10 Years, Minister Anas: Positive Correlations between Performance Accountability and Development Acceleration and Poverty Alleviation

JAKARTA – Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) Abdullah Azwar Anas submitted the evaluation results of the Government Institution Performance Accountability System (SAKIP) for 2024 to government institutions. It shows that the SAKIP scores of governments, both provincial and district/city, have increased over the past 10 years.

Minister Anas revealed that this increase in scores illustrates the government’s strong commitment in realizing a more transparent and results-oriented bureaucracy.

“SAKIP achievements in the last ten years, from 2014 to 2023, show a positive trend. This can be seen with improved governance and increased performance accountability,” he said in his remarks at the Submission of AKIP Evaluation Results for Regional Governments in 2024 held in Jakarta, Wednesday (2/10).

Since 2018, the Government of Yogyakarta Special Region has been one that successfully achieved the AA predicate. In addition to the region led by Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, this year, the Banyuwangi Regency Government and Surabaya City Government also achieved the AA predicate.

SAKIP 2024 evaluated 36 provincial governments and 505 district/municipal governments. In addition to the three AA-rated regions, the Tuban Regency Government and Blitar City Government achieved an A. While 16 other regional governments received BB grades, and 39 regional governments with B grades. For the rest, their predicate is still below the B grade.

It is reported that the average SAKIP score of district/city governments in 2024 was 64.23, an increase of 0.18 points from 2023.

Meanwhile, the average SAKIP score of the provincial government this year is 70.75, a slight decrease of 1.42 points from 2023. The decline was due to the addition of two new provinces being evaluated.

With optimal implementation of SAKIP, budget and planning are aligned. SAKIP can encourage the achievement of development through aligned and appropriate planning, budgeting, and performance.

At least in the last five years, SAKIP has contributed to the acceleration of development agendas, such as poverty alleviation. It ensures that every rupiah spent by the government must have an impact on society.

On average, regional governments with SAKIP scores of AA and A have poverty rates lower than the national average. Not only poverty, but also other development agendas, such as reducing unemployment.

“On average, regional governments with SAKIP AA and A received a Human Development Index (HDI) higher than the national HDI average,” Minister Anas explained.

He emphasized that every institution should contribute to the achievement of development priorities. He also expressed his appreciation to regional governments that received an increase in SAKIP predicate.

Hopefully, this achievement can be maintained and improved in the following years.

“We realize that various achievements through SAKIP must certainly continue to be improved in the midst of various dynamics and increasingly high expectations of society,” he concluded.
