MEDAN – The Director General of Village Governance at the Ministry of Home Affairs, La Ode Ahmad Bolombo, has called on village officials across Indonesia to have the ability to run the government through the Strengthening Village Governance and Development Programme (P3PD) training.

Some of the abilities that he expects village officials to have include running the government, planning sustainable development, and being able to maintain integrity.

“We want to ensure that every village apparatus has the ability to run the government, plan sustainable development, and maintain integrity in carrying out their duties. Thus, villages in Indonesia can achieve the expected self-reliance and prosperity,” said La Ode at the opening of the P3PD training in Semarang and watched online by all participants in Indonesia on Thursday (22/8/2024).

One to note, P3PD training continues in various regions in Indonesia. One of them is in North Sumatra, which is known in a statement received by The Editor on Tuesday (27/8/2024) that there are 2,569 villages that will take part in the P3PD training which was first conducted on 21–24 August 2024.

Danli Pasko Timisela, Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist from P3PD’s Regional Management Consultant (RMC) North Sumatra, said that there will be 7 batches of P3PD training in North Sumatra this year.

In batch 1, he continued, 227 villages sent 866 officials to participate in training in 29 classes spread across 8 hotels in Medan City.

Danli said the participants received comprehensive material related to village governance, sustainable village development strategies, and corruption prevention mechanisms that must be implemented at the village level.

P3PD TRAINING MAKES OFFICERS CREATIVE IN DEVELOPING THEIR REGION

The opening of the P3PD training in North Sumatra itself, according to Danli, was conducted by the Head of the PMD Dukcapil Office of North Sumatra Province, Parlindungan Pane, at Griya Hotel in Medan.

Parlindungan requested that each participant pay full attention during the training in order to obtain another value.

PARTICIPANTS MAY SHARE THEIR KNOWLEDGE

Danli Pasko Timisela also said that this training will also be a moment for village officials to get to know each other and share knowledge in managing their villages.

He hopes that the network of cooperation between villages can be stronger both at the regional and central level.

The next batch will be held in the next few weeks with the target of reaching all villages in North Sumatra.

“Hopefully, all village officials who take part in this training will be able to apply the knowledge gained for the progress and welfare of their respective villages,” said Danli.

Specifically for the North Sumatra region, he hopes this training can create a better village government, accountable and free from corrupt practices. (ADVERTORIAL)
