BANYUWANGI – Banyuwangi Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani inspected the location of the bridge that was washed away by the flood in Sukamade Hamlet, Sarongan Village, Pesanggaran Sub-district, Saturday (30/11/2024). This inspection was conducted to make sure the availability of logistics and assistance for the affected residents, and to monitor the on-going emergency response.
Due to the flood, the main access to Sukamade Hamlet was cut off. Assessing the condition, the regency government immediately took actions to ensure that the basic needs of the residents were fulfilled.
“Our main priority is to ensure the help needed by the Sukamade residents. Logistics and basic necessities must be available, their access to other area must be reinstated,” said Ipuk.

She also instructed her staff to distribute the assistance to the affected residents as soon as possible.
“I have asked the relevant departments to ensure the availability of the logistics and other main necessities. The most affected residents will be prioritized in receiving the assistance,” she continued.
A community raft has been made in mutual cooperation to overcome the lack of access to other areas. It is operated to cross the Sukamade River to facilitate the mobility of residents, transport the motorbikes, and ensure the residents’ activities to continue to run.
“The temporary handling by the relevant departments will support the rafting facility and infrastructure to help the residents of Sukamade Hamlet to cross the river. At the same time, we are preparing to build a bridge in coordination with the center and the provincial government,” Ipuk concluded.
