JAKARTA – Indonesia is ranked 64th out of 193 countries in the 2024 E-Government Development Index (EGDI). However, Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) Abdullah Azwar Anas reminded that the United Nations (UN) has identified challenges in improving government digitalisation in this country.
One of the challenges is related to inter-agency collaboration, including with state-owned enterprises (SOEs).
“Indonesia has entered the Very High E-Government Development Index (VHEGDI) category for the first time, a significant increase of 43 ranks since the SPBE Presidential Regulation was issued in 2018,” Minister Anas stated as a speaker at the Digital Forum (Fordigi) SOE Summit 2024 held in Jakarta on Thursday (26/9).
Despite these achievements, the UN reminds us that the digital divide remains a challenge, especially in developing countries.
Therefore, collaboration between all elements of the nation is essential to improve digital public infrastructure, human resource development, and effective digital governance.
Speaking to an audience of digital talents from various SOEs, Minister Anas explained that the Ministry of PANRB has joined forces with SOE Peruri and several other SOEs to form INA DIGITAL, a team that will integrate all government services into one portal.
“I think there will be problems if the government works by itself. But with the digital talent at Fordigi, I hope digitalisation can become more scalable,” he said.
INA DIGITAL has built the first phase of the national portal and integrated digital identity in the form of INApas, INAku and INAgov. The integration of national digital services is a key pillar in supporting the digital transformation of government.
Integrated services in one portal are expected to meet the needs of the community at every moment of the human life journey, from birth to death.
“We hope that with the cooperation of all parties, we can continue to enrich and strengthen government services,” said Minister Anas.
Various global institutions or digital practitioners believe that Indonesia’s digital transformation is on the right track. The PANRB Minister has also visited, learned from, and collaborated with a number of institutions from countries that have successfully implemented government digitalisation.
He emphasized that this collaboration with SOEs is not just for the benefit of agencies or groups.
“The end of the great meeting of this forum is to facilitate our society with accessible services, to help them get more income, and to boost their welfare,” concluded Minister Anas at the event themed Navigating The Digital Horizon: Strategic AI for SOE’s Transformation.
