DPD RI will Supervise the Implementation of Hajj 2024

JAKARTA – The Plenary Session of Indonesian Regional Representative Council (DPD RI) decided to conduct comprehensive supervision of the implementation of the 2024 Hajj pilgrimage.

Vice Chairman of DPD RI Mahyudin said, this year the government will send the largest number of pilgrims throughout the implementation of the Hajj pilgrimage, which is 241,000 quotas.

This number increased by 12,000 quotas compared to the 2023 Hajj season which was only 229,000 quotas.

“The details of the congregation consist of 213,320 regular pilgrims or 92 per cent and 27,680 special pilgrims or 8 per cent of the total number of pilgrims who will depart this year,” he said in his opening speech at the 11th Plenary Session of DPD RI Session V Year 2023–2024 at Nusantara V Building, Tuesday (7/6).

Furthermore, Mahyudin said that DPD RI, as a representative of the community and region, has a direct interest in the implementation of the Hajj pilgrimage so that it takes place safely, comfortably, orderly, and in accordance with sharia provisions.

“Therefore, the leader of DPD RI assigned Committee III to supervise the implementation of the pilgrimage in 1145 H / 2024 M, both domestically and in Saudi Arabia, during preparation and during the implementation of the pilgrimage,” he explained.

In addition to discussing the supervision of the implementation of the pilgrimage in 2024, the Plenary Session of DPD RI also listened to reports on the activities of DPD RI members in the constituency.
